Australian Education Survey 2013

How well does Australian schooling rate?

The results of the OECD's first international survey of adult skills shows that Australian adults perform very well compared to other developed countries when it comes to literacy skills, but when it comes to numeracy the performance is only average.

What is surprising, when reviewing the table below, is the relatively poor performance of some other English-speaking developed countries, such as the US, UK and Canada to a lesser degree. In most situations, these results are academic, unless they signal significant deficiencies in the country's education standards, but they can be more important for expatriates, where ensuring that their children's education remains of high-quality is usually the number one priority.
